Swing Band Venues
Since its foundation in 1997, Mr Swing’s Dance Orchestra has been entertaining audiences with swing band and big band music all over the UK
Venues come in all shapes and sizes and the band can tailor its performance accordingly. As long as you’ve got a minimum performance area of 20ft x 10ft (6m x 3m) or 24ft x 8ft (7.5m x 2.5m), the 13-piece swing band will fit into your chosen venue.

In and around York, the swing band has held functions at The Merchant Adventurers’ Hall and York St. John University. Other York venues Mr Swing has played include The National Railway Museum, Elvington Air Museum, York Maze, York Racecourse, Middlethorpe Hall, Carlton Towers, The Parsonage and many hotels.
Further afield in North Yorkshire, Harrogate is one of the swing band’s favourite places to play. Mr Swing's Dance Orchestra has performed for many weddings at Rudding Park as well as events at The Harrogate International Centre, Great Yorkshire Showground, Sun Pavilion, Allerton Castle and the Crown, Majestic and Cairn hotels.
Heading north east, the swing band has entertained for the forces at RAF Linton-on-Ouse and RAF Leeming, picnickers at Thorp Perrow Arboretum, wedding guests at Crathorne Hall near Yarm and Hardwick Hall outside Sedgfield, party-goers at Blackwell Grange Hotel in Darlington and Rushpool Hall in Saltburn as well as many times for corporate clients at The Hilton Hotel on the banks of the Tyne in Newcastle.
Scotland has also been a port of call for the 13-piece swing band, with Mr Swing’s Dance Orchestra playing for weddings in Perthshire and Dumfries.
Coming down into the North West, the swing band has performed for school pupils, parents and staff at Casterton in Cumbria, annual charity events at The Dunkenhalgh Hotel near Blackburn, Lancashire, corporate guests at Manchester's Midland Hotel and the amazing Manchester Monastery and the Air Crew Association at The Hilton in Liverpool, Merseyside, as well as birthday celebrations at Maghull Town Hall.
As you’ll see on the testimonials page, Mr Swing’s Dance Orchestra became a firm favourite with the Air Crew Association, being their band of choice for the final few years of their annual knees-up. They even invited the swing band all the way down to the Bournemouth Hilton, so keen were they to hear Mr Swing’s take on swing and jazz band classics. It wasn’t the first time the big band had been down to that neck of the woods however, having played for a wedding in Exeter just a few months earlier!

And so we come to London. Having received funding from The Prince’s Trust, the swing band was honoured to be invited to play at Buckingham Palace as distinguished guests, politicians and celebrities from the fields of sport and entertainment arrived for The Royal Charter award ceremony for Prince Charles’ charity organisation in 1999. Much champagne drinking and hob-nobbing, including being presented to the Prince himself, led to two further gigs at the awesome Drapers’ Hall in the heart of the City of London. Mr Swing's Dance Orchestra has also entertained for corporate clients at The Churchill Hyatt Regency Hotel in Portman Square and wedding guests at The Amadeus Centre in Little Venice.
Heading back up the country, Mr Swing has played for anniversaries and weddings in Cambridgeshire and Leicestershire, major fashion companies at the National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham, as well as for our old friends The Air Crew Association at The Ramada in Grantham.
Further into Lincolnshire, the swing band performed for a huge crowd at the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre in 2009. The swing band entertained before the amazing backdrop of a Lancaster bomber no less. Take a look at this stage setting…..

And so we arrive back, via Woodthorpe Hall in Derbyshire, to South Yorkshire where the swing band has played at venues around Sheffield including Whirlowbrook Hall. In West Yorkshire, the swing band has performed at Huddersfield Golf Club and many times at Leeds United Football Club for players’ testimonials, outside charity events and the club’s own annual functions. In fact Leeds itself has been a hot-bed for the swing band over the years with gigs at The Royal Armouries, Crowne Plaza and Metropole hotels, Wood Hall near Wetherby and Hazelwood Castle near Tadcaster. While across in East Yorkshire, the 13-piece swing band has entertained on numerous occasions at Beverley Memorial Hall as well as the KC Stadium in Hull and the impressive Bridlington Spa.
So you see, wherever you may be in the UK, Mr Swing’s Dance Orchestra is only too happy to entertain you.
